I'm Just Wild About Granny

After teaching myself both knit and crochet, I was always under the impression that I was more comfortable with the knitting process. I like the symmetry of having a needle in each hand. But I know that if you want to make a blanket in a hurry, it's better to pick up a hook over needles. St. Pam comes to the rescue, re-teaches me to crochet and sets me out on the trail to the worlds largest Granny Square. Turns out that with my short attention span, I only taught myself single crochet and barely touched the tip of the iceberg. I am totally addicted to this stitch pattern, even if I'm not sure what it's called (Series of Double Crochet, perhaps?). It is so much fun! (I dreamt about it the night after I learned!) It probably won't end up being the world's largest square but, actually just large enough to keep my own Granny warm. I'm pretty sure she made a granny square vest for me when I was little, so I figure this is returning the favor.

After seeing an episode of Knitty Gritty that focused on the Fibonacci Numbers, I decided to try it out on the square. Also, I'm working with Acrylic because Grandma lives in a nursing home and durability seems important in that setting.

I'm still partial to knitting, but I feel ready to switch between the 2 when it's called for.

Many FO's to show. Hope to post a pictorial essay soon.
