Make Room for One More

My Niece is a 'bind-off' away from her first finished object! She has been practicing on her own since I showed her a simple cast-on and the knit stitch at Thanksgiving. She was frustrated at first but kept trying. I'm so glad she didn't give up. It was a total surprise today when I received this photo. She hadn't mentioned it in awhile, so I thought she had given up. Can you tell I'm proud of her? Now, I'm trying to teach her to bind-off from 2000 miles away. Thank goodness for knitting help.com and the Stitch Diva.

As for my own progress, I am very close to finishing something. Pictures soon.

Made it Through Another VD

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the large majority of my co-workers are male, but the enthusiasm for Valentines seemed a little flat this year. Did it seem that way to anyone else? Although I did receive a box of chocolate conversation hearts from 'Cupid', the rest of the day was quite ordinary. Well, except for the excitment at the end of the evening. (By the way, if you were subscribed to the pet blog through Bloglines, you might want to check that the subscription still exists. I think the feed got lost/deleted between old and new blogger.)

Last week -- Alison was in town for a few days. We got to meet the handsome Avishai and hold him and watch him smile at us. (I think I'm catching the Baby fever again.) We also ate at Pita Jungle, listened to some jazz, drank some coffee and got a little knitting done. I'm close to finishing a baby blanket and I broke a promise to myself and bought new yarn for my next project. I was hoping to work from stash, but... why does there never seem to be the 'just-right-thing' in the stash? And will you believe me when I say I will be knitting another Baby Bobbi Bear (or 2)? I've gotten a lot of yardage out of that pattern and there's no end in sight...
