And the Color of the Day Is...

Pam and I went over to Lux to meet up with Michelle for a little Knitting and Coffee-type beverages. I unwittingly color coordinated with the paintings under which I was sitting. A man, named Greg, on the other side of the shop happened to notice it because he and his friend pick 2 colors every day to look for in their environment. Today's colors just happend to be purple and pink. You may not be able to see it too well, but I am actually working on the cuffs of those pink baby booties (see last post), and my sweater totally coordinates with the painting above me. So he asked if he could take my picture and we all had a good laugh. Here's the other picture he took.

Thanks for emailing me the pictures, Greg. If anyone is interested, those beautiful paintings, by artist John Mayes, are for sale. Only $1000 apiece. I think, if I had the extra $$, I would want to buy more than one. But, I'm also in the middle of down-sizing the number of possesions I have. And I've never bought a 'real' piece of art before. You really don't need to hear about this do you?...
Brooke and Jack were supposed to meet up with us too, but Jack decided that he wanted to spend the day at home and Brooke thinks he's still too young to stay home alone ;-) We missed you, Brooke (and Jack). I finished those bunnies, except for to clean up the loose ends of yarn. And I made some progress on the hat I'm working on.
I don't think I'm going to be able to make it to Jessica's today, I've got to try to make a dent in my house cleaning project. Chores....

Little By Little
The booties are almost done... One cuff down, one to go.

I wanted to re-create the bunny faces, but I was told by a couple of people that I was acting like a perfectionist and I should let them be. So I'm going to let them be. I guess we are always our own worst critics.
I found out that my friend Laura is coming to visit in a couple of weeks. This is the friend for whom I was making a baby blanket last summer. Well, I made this hat for her baby and a scarf to match. They turned out great and, of course, I never sent them off. I still have her Christmas gift too. Oh, and a birthday card too. Good thing she's coming to visit or she might not have gotten this stuff until next year! (I'm lucky to have friends who are willing to forgive my shortcomings).
In a roundabout way, this puts pressure on me to finish those Manos throw pillows, too. They are intended for a mutual friend of ours who lives in the same general area as Laura. I'd like to get them done this coming weekend. I should be devoting the majority of my free time to cleaning my house and getting a garage sale pile together. But - let's face it. Knitting is addictive and way more fun than trying to decide if someone would potentially buy my old PDA at a garage sale. I must balance my cleaning with the reward of knitting a few rows.

Felting Accomplished
They're not exactly 'Done', but they are one step closer... I put some knitted items in my washing machine and Voila! Felt city:

Manos felted up really thick and beautiful (Pheww!). I have some left over and I'm thinking of making a Booga Bag with it.

I love making these baby booties and can't wait to give them faces. The next pair will have dog ears instead of bunny ears. THe plan is to make them look like this guy...

This is my parent's dog (aka my 'little brother') Buddy.
Next up - Hat for me, opera scarf (maybe for me, maybe for someone else), hat for my niece, hat promised to ex-boyfriend, baby blanket (I've got all summer to finish it).
Was supposed to go watch some Rugby today (and knit), but the game was cancelled due to rain :-( So I'm just going to knit, indoors. Coffee Rush. 1 PM - ?. Feel free to join us if you have some free time this afternoon.
Still going to

UFO Report
Life has been getting in the way of my knitting lately, and I hate when that happens! I had a house guest for about 2 weeks and was preparing for a little getaway I had last weekend. So my projects suffered. Here's what's in the works:
Bunny Booties - I'm making another pair. They are ready to be felted. Stay tuned for photos
Felted Throw Pillows - These are the infamous ones I am making with Manos. I've had some comments that I may be slightly crazy to felt such an expensive yarn. We'll see...
Next up:
Floppy flower hat from Winter edition of Interweave
Baby blanket for my sister's new little one. Making it's appearance in September. Just trying to get a head start.
Opera Scarf - I got a skein of purple bamboo at SWTC and am dying to use it.
Until I have some FO's here's a picture of Myriah.

Pam Got Me - Here's the Goods
In case you were wondering...
1. What is the total amount of music files on your computer?
Well... It's a lot. Just under 7GB of music in MP3 format (copied from my CD's mostly) and then another 8GB of live shows downloaded (legally) from FurtherNet. Yes. My Computer is really just an overpriced Jukebox. It has more music files than anything else! I am a software developer and I listen to music on my MP3 player to drown out the keyboard tapping noises of the people around me.
2. What was the last CD you bought?
We All Do - Adam Panic. One of Phoenix's up and coming musicians. They sometimes play the title song on 103.9 The Edge. Before that, I think it was Alive - Kenny Wayne Shepherd.
3. What was the last song you listened to before reading this message?
I'm not sure(?) I was in the car, listening to KJZZ and they were playing some acoustic Jazz and I didn't recognize the song.
4. List 5 songs that you often listen to or that mean a lot to you.
This
is really hard... I don't think I could possibly limit it to 5. Sorry to be a copycat, Pam, but I've got to break it down....
Songs on my MP3 player that I'm digging:
Young Urban - Ambulance LTD (It's real mellow and loungy sounding. It nice atmospheric background music.)
Believe - Lenny Kravitz (a song of empowerment)
Wrong Side -
Angela McCluskey (bought Her CD on a whim while at Zia one day. Sassy Folk Music.)
Danger!High Voltage -
Electric Six (this song makes me laugh)
Bottle Let Me Down -
Emmylou Harris (A real 'honkey-tonk' song about not being able to drink someone off your mind. And no one can sing like Emmylou. She's awesome.)
Follow Through - Gavin DeGraw
(Just a really good upbeat pop tune. In fact, a lot of songs on Gavin's album are really catchy.)
Big Me - Foo Fighters
(There is almost always at least one Foo Fighter song in the mix. Always seems to fit my mood)
Could You Be Loved - Bob Marley
(Good Stuff. )
Scream -
Ima Robot (Punk Rock + New Wave + B-movie sound effects = Fun Dance Music)
Songs from High School
Save it For Later - The English Beat
Tainted Love - Soft Cell
Love Cats - The Cure
This Charming Man - The Smiths
Song For a Future Generation - The B-52's
Songs From College
Bizarre Love Triangle - New Order
Beds Are Burning - Midnight Oil
Mayor of Simpleton - XTC
Kiss Off - Violent Femmes
Sweet Child o Mine - Guns N Roses
Great Broken Heart Songs
Love Removal Machine - The Cult
Song for the Dumped - Ben Folds Five
('Give me my money back, you b**ch. And don't forget to give me back my black t-shirt'. I don't know why I find this lyric so funny, but I do.)
Comfortable - John Mayer
Last Goodbye - Jeff Buckley
You Oughta Know - Alanis Morrisette
People with Guitars and Voices like Butter
John Mayer -
Makes me melt every time
Brian Setzer -
The cat can swing
Kenny Wayne Shepherd -
This guy can play the blues. Saw him live and he played with so much passion I was practically moved to tears
Jack White (White Stripes) -
His voice is not so much like butter, but his guitar playing and song arrangements are completely fascinating
Elvis Costello -
Again, maybe the voice isn't so smooth, but I am a big fan
Chrissy Hynde (& The Pretenders)
Aimee Mann -
Great songwriter
Tori Amos -
She's fascinating
Patty Griffin -
Another great songwriter
Great Soul Songs
Midnight Train to Georgia - Gladys Knight & the Pips
Inner City Blues - Marvin Gaye
I Never Loved a Man (The Way That I Love You) - Aretha Franklin
Uptight (Everything is Alright) - Stevie Wonder
Dance to the Music - Sly and the Family Stone
5 Great Disco Songs (I know what your thinking - there's no such thing, right? C'mon admit that these songs make you want to dance! )
Night Fever - Bee Gees
I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor
That's the Way - KC and the Sunshine Band
... I thought I would be able to think of 5 but I'm drawing a blank...
Probably way more information than you wanted to read, but this is a topic that I could talk about endlessly.
5. Which two get tagged next and why? Is there anyone left to tag? I think I'm going to put an end to this madness!

I Can Do It Myself
I have a man staying at my house this week. He's a friend of Steve's from College and he's my friend too, so I said he could stay here for a few weeks while he finds a place to live. He stayed here with Steve and I last winter for 6 weeks and was no trouble at all, so I figured it'd be alright if he stayed here alone with me. So far, it's been fine - until this evening.
I came home from work and the first thing he says to me is "I accidentally locked the bathroom door." There's no key hole on the outside of the door, so how are you supposed to get in there? Maybe some of you reading this know the answer. And now I know the answer because I was the one who had to fix the situation. Google helped me find the answer. There is a little hole in the doorknob and basically you have to find a small enough screwdriver to fit in there and turn a screw (that you can't see). And voila! Unlocked door. I figured this out while my guest sat and watched the State of the Union address. So much for traditional gender roles! It's nice to know that I can take care of these things on my own.
